So a few months back, I went to Spain to visit my friend Randy, who welcomed me with a home cooked meal. He is an amazing cook and yes, basil minced pork was one of the dishes he cooked! I’ve never been a strong fan of this thai dish, it’s not something that I’ll order in a Thai restaurant.. But every since I ate Randy’s dish, I was hooked! And I was determined to learn how to cook this dish, and it turned out to be really easy! So here’s to sharing the love for food!
Adapted from source
300g Minced Pork
Thai Basil Leaves (about 10 leaves)
2 Chili Padi (sliced)
2 Garlic Cloves (finely chopped)
2 Tablespoon Cooking Oil
2 Tablespoon Water
2 Tablespoon Fish Sauce
1 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce
1 Teaspoon Soya Sauce
1 Teaspoon Sugar
Heat cooking oil in a pan till hot, add chili padi and garlic, saute till aroma is released.
Add minced pork, breaking up the clumps and stir-fry till pork is almost cooked.
Evenly mix the seasoning with the pork and continue to stir-fry till pork is done.
Add water and basil leaves, cooked till leaves are wilted.
Sprinkle dashes of pepper to taste.
Serve with white rice and sunny-side-up.
It’s so easy and yet so so delicious! And since I’m in Munich now (exchange life also means more home cooking), I’m going to be experimenting with more recipes and upload this section of the blog more! So till then! ❤
