Must try: Goldleaf New Taiwan Porridge Restaurant

I have always been an avid fresh cockles fan! Everytime I go to chomp chomp or any other hawker for that matter, I would always order a plate of cockles, along with that delicious chili sauce. Simply heaven! Today, I want to introduce to all the cockles fans out there: the best fresh cockles I’ve ever tasted!

This dish is what brings me here, this is so f**king good. I know I should not use expletives here, but really, the cockles is so so good. It’s really fresh! A lot of people dislike cockles because of the “smell”, but the cockles here have no smell at all! Even my friend, Jiahui who hates cockles ended up eating almost the whole bowl of it! The cockles here are that good! And, the bowl of sauce is slightly spicy and sour, which goes really well with the cockles! I love the whole dish so much I always frequent the place!!

(Plus, they don’t come with the shell so your hands won’t be dirty!)

Here’s some of the other dishes that I always order, which are really really good as well. But not as mind-blowing as their fresh cockles above, haha.

Minced meat with salted fish/ egg yolk: The meat is so tender and fragrant, loved the texture of their patty! It’s one of my must order dish! I love how it goes with the salted fish as well, yummms.

Eggplant with minced meat: Love this dish as well, something that I will order every time. Not because it’s really mind-blowing but more so because I love eggplant haha. The eggplant is soft and the dish overall is fragrant.

Three-Cup Chicken: I felt that this dish was well cooked. The chicken was tender and the sauce was fragrant. But I’ve read reviews where diners raved about this dish! So I guess it’s a must try too!

Lastly, it’s their signature dish.. Chye Poh Omelette! It’s really fluffy and tasty! The chye poh goes really well with the egg. Again, this dish has been raved about by diners! To me, it’s good but nothing mind blowing! Ok, honestly nothing will be good enough for me as compared to the fresh cockles here haha so i guess i’m a little biased.

yes, i love cockles that much 🙂
